CMN Lecture Hall/STEM Building Grand Opening

The College of Muscogee Nation (CMN) will hold a Grand Opening on campus for the Lecture Hall/STEM Building on May 16, 2024, beginning at 1:00 pm. The newest facility on campus includes many cultural
features that express the theme of preserving the past and cultivating futures. From the beginning of the design phase the architects, Anishinabe Design, understood the building would focus on Indigenous practices of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. In addition, the facility would incorporate a multi-use lecture hall that could seat hundreds of people. After the intricate designs were completed the construction managers, Maska Builders, brought every detail to life.

The CMN Lecture Hall is a four hundred twenty-five seating capacity auditorium equipped with a twenty-five-foot LG 4K video wall. The lecture hall can be used for showing movies, and PowerPoint presentations, or arranged for lectures, science fairs, and convocations. The lobby showcases a Mvskoke STEM icon that represents traditional knowledge systems of contemporary educational disciplines. Wooden pillars provide structural support and add a rustic appearance to the lobby finished with wood panels. A skylight in the ceiling will track the sunlight across the floor and denote the summer solstice at the entry to the lecture hall.

The CMN STEM lab is one of three classrooms and will be used to demonstrate the college’s focus on advanced skill development. Classes and equipment may include 3D printing, laser engraving, drone piloting, circuitry, and computer programming. The driving force for the technology in the Lecture Hall/STEM Building is the server room housing the One Net data system and the “Kakke” (Raven) supercomputer.

The College of the Muscogee Nation would like to thank the Muscogee Nation Principal Chief David Hill and the National Council for their continued support. This is the twentieth anniversary of CMN as the
institution of higher education for the Muscogee Nation emphasizing Native culture, values, language, and self-determination. CMN is transforming education as a 1994 Tribal Land Grant institution by combining our unique Mvskoke cultural context with cutting-edge technology.
